Maman
This summer she said it. Just like that. Before dinner. “Maybe I should leave.”
As her daughter, this photographic journey has been an attempt for me to understand the person my mother has always been. Beyond the mother and beyond the wife, the woman in all her sexual power of seductiveness. Through these performances I have set for her, my mother is fantasizing her future life and all the possibilities that it may involve. I am both a co-creator and spectator of her desires, watching her perform them and the stories unfolding.
For the past year, I have been photographing my mother as part of my MA at Central Saint Martins. This is one of the final photos exhibited in our degree show at Rochelle School in Shoreditch (Arnold Circus).
The exhibition is now open to the public until the 12th. Come and have a look if you are in the area!
